Beauty Will Save the World
These three are inseparable: truth, goodness, and beauty. For God is Truth (John 14:6), God is Good (Psalm 99:5), and God is Beauty (Psalm 89:17) – and God is One. When the human nous contemplates the most-perfect beauty it also beholds the greatest good and the highest truth. The soul thus becomes capable of fitting into itself all the boundlessness of divinity. For this reason, the Russian author Fyodor Dostoyevsky (1821-1881) in his novel, The Idiot, writes: “Beauty will save the world.”

Beauty in Candles
As the candle both melts and illumines at the same time, so we in the temple – and especially we outside it – must also “melt,” both sacrificing ourselves in favor of our neighbor as well as enlightening him by our example through the love of Christ.

Beauty in Children
“Don’t worry that the children you raise sometimes don’t hear you. Worry that they always see you and take an example from you.”
